Abstract

Anton Caragea is a historian, diplomat, university professor and the author of over 300 articles and studies referring to European, American and African Culture and History and recent politics.

 Anton Caragea is a historian and the Director of the Institute of International Relations and Economic Cooperation of Romania.

He is also a senior editor at ”The Independent” daily newspaper (2000-present day, a foreign policy expert at „Integration (a weekly publication of the Romanian government), and the author of 15 books and over 300 articles and studies referring to European, American and African Culture and History and recent politics.He is contributor (among many others publications) to Foreign Policy in Focus, WorldPress Institute, Letras Internacionales etc.

International Activity.

Anton Caragea chaired a number of European delegation and committees on research and public diplomacy in countries from Asia, Europe and Middle East.

Honorary member of « International Association for Conservation of Natural Resources and Energy » from U.S.A., New York- 1999

Fellow of « The International Napoleonic Society » Canada, Montreal – 2000

lnvited as Visiting Professor at « Instituto Rumeno de Cultura e Ricerca Umanistica- Veneţia, Italia – 2001

Honorary Member of International Society for Study of Mihai Eminescu. Awarded with Diploma of Excellency for cultural activities in 2003 and receiver of I.L. Caragiale medallion for acquirements in culture in 2002.

Vice-president of Balkans and Slavic World Studies International Association.

He is Doctor Honoris Causa of 4 university and selected as MAN OF THE YEAR 2010 representing Romania for his diplomatic activity , specially for organizing OSCE Bucharest Conference.   

In august 2009 Professor Anton Caragea was elected as President of European Council on International Relations (E.U.C.I.R , the leading European think tank on foreign policy issues, the members of the Board of European Council on International Relations declared that: “Professor Anton Caragea has demonstrated his commitment to a powerful an independent Europe, he gives a voice on international relations arena to Europe”
 
In february 2010 Professor Anton Caragea was Co-president of Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe – Bucharest Conference. The Conference was considered as a historic moment for future of European security.

Decorated with Qatar Medal for Democracy by His Highness Amir Al Thani , Ruler of State of Qatar.

Declared MAN OF THE YEAR in 2010 from Romania for organizing OSCE ( Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe) Summit in Bucharest.
SPECIAL PRIZE in 2010 for supporting international cooperation and inter-faith dialogue .

 Fight for a New Helsinki Accord

 Professor Anton Caragea is world known for his struggle for a New Helsinki Accord. His manifest was published by Foreign Policy in Focus. For this initiative he was considered the diplomat of the year 2008 and has received many international awards.
